The Archdiocesan Band Program was begun in 1973, long ago enough to rejoice in the benefits it has brought tens of thousands of our students. Many of our students have been awarded scholarships to high school and college, some are professional musicians and still others are in the school systems, conducting their own music programs Your school is part of the ABP that serves 42 schools through the office of Catholic Schools. Parents and students are asked to make a commitment for at least a year so that the music teacher can develop basic skills and then make an adequate evaluation. Lessons are offered weekly at school during the regular school day. Instruction is focused on the needs of the students and the performance level of the group. We strive to have four lessons a month, but this varies with some months having five lessons and others having three. When lessons are missed because of holidays, the teacher will try to schedule make-up classes. At the beginner level, it is recommended that students select one of the basic band instruments: flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, trombone, or snare drum. If you do not already have an instrument and cannot borrow one, the local music stores offer rental/purchase plans. There are many people upon whom the success of the music program depends. Of primary importance is the STUDENT who must put forth the necessary amount of effort by practicing at home, attending classes equipped with instrument and music. Parents, you are to be commended for making this investment in your child's future. Encourage your child to set goals so that she/he is prepared to take advantage of every musical event offered: school concerts, special programs, solo & ensemble festivals, the annual band festival, honor bands, extra rehearsals.

The SLKF Choir is a non-auditioned performance group. The choir performs in morning assemblies during advent, weekday School Masses, and several Christmas and Spring Concerts. Besides the fundamentals of music and vocal health, they also learn to sing liturgical, classical, Broadway, and gospel tunes. Many of these students are chosen for District and All-State Honor Chourses. |

The mission of the Altar Society is to present a beautiful altar, tabernacle, and home to honor our Lord Jesus Christ, that is worthy of His Divine Presence. The Jr. Auxiliary SLKF School Team consists of 50 students in 6th through 8th grades. The students achieve service hours by serving in the Lord's House after school.

The students of St. Louis King of France publish a school newspaper entitled CRUSADER NEWS. Students may purchase a copy of this paper for 25 cents.

Scouting programs at SLKF consist of the Cub Scouts (grades 1-5), the Boy Scouts (grades 6-8) and the Girl Scouts (grades K-8). The Cub Scout Program at SLKF takes a proactive role in helping parents lead a child from boyhood towards early manhood. By using positive male and family influence, the scouts are taught the importance of God, family, and country along with fairness and caring for others. The ultimate goal is to help the child develop a Christian conscience and give him the social skills that are so important in the formative years of his life. The Boy Scouts continue the cub scouts goals with the added goal of leadership. The purpose of the Girl Scouts is to inspire girls with the highest ideals of character, conduct, patriotism, and service that they may become happy and resourceful citizens. Girl Scouts is the worlds' preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls - all girls - where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adults, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives - like strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth. In Girl Scouts, girls discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls together. Through the many enriching experiences provided by the Girl Scouts, they can grow courageous and strong. Girl Scouts: where girls grow strong. |
